tilts only (his shirts) is a 16mm short film where the experience of longing is explored in an abstract landscape. The camera moves slowly down a soft surface of a man's shirts. Its closeness creates optical distortions that render its object at once familiar and strange, intimate and distant. In its repetitive, vertical motion, the camera adopts a sexualised gaze while echoing Newman's onement (zip).
